- Dell CEO gives the future of AI
- AI will never replace human workers, but will help them in place, says Michael Dell
- Companies should see AI as a great way to also reinvent themselves
The CEO of Dell Technologies said Techradar Pro that AI offers an excellent opportunity for organizations to reassess itself to a positive effect
Speaking during a question-answer session with the media at Dell Technologies World 2025, Michael Dell sought to reassure us that AI will never fully replace human workers, and in fact could offer them a whole new perspective.
In a long discussion, Dell also exposed his opinions on political instability affecting the technological industry and some of its main principles of leadership.
“Always a change”
“The way I think about it is that if you look at all progress, that is to say to any technology, you still have changes that take place,” said Dell in response to our question on AI affecting or even replacing human workers.
“My way of thinking is that there is probably an effect of 10% for that – but I think that 90% of this is in fact growth, expansion and opportunity, and ultimately what I think you will see are more opportunities, more economic growth.”
“There are a lot of things we do not do, that we have done, because we have the tools, and we are more effective as a species because of this – (using AI) is only another example of that.”
“One of the keys beyond productivity and efficiency, I think, for organizations, is to reinvent yourself and say, okay, what is the trajectory of these capacities, where it goes and what our activity should look like in three years, five years, given this capacity.”
“You know, many roles today did not exist 10, 20, 30 years ago – and no one planned this.”
Having spoke with the CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, in his first speech, Dell was also asked if the two shared global leadership principles.
“I think that whenever there is a new technology, you have to jump (and think), what is the likely impact of that, and how should we change? And if we have no passion around that, or that there is no crisis in your organization – do one! We think that can make us a better business.”
Dell was also asked about how the evolution of global economic and political situations could affect the future prospects of the company
“We agree that these are problems and challenges,” he said, “in my opinion general, the importance of this technology is greater than all these problems – and I heard that someone saying recently is greater than prices – and that would somehow summarize our point of view.”
“Are all these things useful for our business? No, are they not – but there is a limit of what we can do on this subject, right? We can certainly do the things we are supposed to do, and we focus on the things we can control – we see many companies that deal with all these challenges as we are, and we propel in all cases.”
