The Senate panel addresses the issue of campus drugs

Islamabad:

The Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights has explained the growing trend in the use of drugs among students and measures undertaken by the departments concerned for the prevention of this threat.

The meeting was chaired by the Samina senator Mumtaz Zehri. Anf officials said that on the Prime Minister’s instructions, they launched a medication awareness campaign in the 237 universities across the country in February 2024.

In Pakistan, around 170 million students aged 18 to 31 were deemed vulnerable to drugs due to the country’s PK Press Club-proximity. During this campaign, ANF discovered 31 drug traffickers as well as 140 kg of drugs seized in 235 universities.
