- Chuwi GameBook promises elite performance at a price lower than premium game laptops
- Ryzen 9 9955HX with 32 threads feeds this game and creator machine
- RTX 5070 Ti with 12 GB GDDR7 makes it a serious competitor for 4K games
CHUWI, a company better known for budgetary devices than the flagship powers, has unveiled its latest efforts to enter the high performance segment: the GameBook 9955HX.
Promoted as a laptop for coders, players and professional creators, this new model is powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, a Zen 5 chip with 16 cores and 32 wires, with a boost frequency of up to 5.4 GHz. It also includes a large 64 MB L3 cache and a configurable TDP which can peak around 55 W.
At the time of writing, the price of the device remains unhappy – however, taking into account the history of CHUWI to undervalue the biggest brands, it is reasonable to expect this model to be lower than similar offers from MSI or Asus.

For graphics, the GameBook 9955HX integrates the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 TI GPU, based on the latest Blackwell RTX architecture, which makes it well suited to video editing and high graphic intensity tasks.
The GPU offers 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, a TGP 140W, and supports features such as complete tracing of the shelves, DLSS 4 and the multi-frame generation.
CHUWI says that this configuration can provide up to 191 IPS in 1440p games with the tracing of the activated shelves and 149 IPS at 4K, placing it firmly in the category of portable performance computers.
For creators working with accelerated AI tools, advanced 3D rendering or video post-production, this could prove to be a high-level competitor, provided that its cooling system and thermal management are up to par.
The display is a 16 -inch 2.5K IPS panel with a 300 Hz cooling rate, a 100% SRGB color coverage and a 16:10 appearance ratio. Pic’s brightness reaches 500 Nits, although the clarifications concerning the accuracy of the colors are not yet verified thanks to independent calibration tests.
Internally, the GameBook is equipped with 32 GB of RAM DDR5 to 5600 MHz, upgrade at 64 GB and an SSD of 1 TO PCIe 4.0. The storage expansion is supported via two M.2 locations, one of which supports PCIe 5.0, offering a level of intermediary of future not generally observed in the CHUWI range.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6th, Bluetooth 5.2, a 2.5 GB Ethernet port, two USB-C ports (supporting power delivery of 100W and 140W), three USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.1 and Mini DisplayPort 2.1A. There is also a 3.5 mm audio socket, DC-in and a Kensington locking slit.
Other features include a full RGB-Backlit keyboard, an IR 2MP webcam with a confidentiality component, a 77.77Wh battery and stereo speakers. The laptop is just over 21 mm thick and weighs 2.3 kg.
