Islamabad:
The PTI lawyer withdrew his petition in a case relating to the transfer and seniority case of the judges of the High Court of Islamabad (CIH), after the constitutional bench (CB) reprimanded him on his reprehensible language.
The case was heard by a CB of five members, led by judge Muhammad Ali Mazhar and including judge Naeem Akhtar Afghan, judge Shahid Bilal Hassan, judge Salahuddin Panhwar and judge Shakeel Ahmed. The lawyer Idrees Ashraf, representing the founder of the PTI, continued his arguments.
At one point, judge Shahid Bilal Hassan asked the lawyer to read paragraph 4 of the petition, questioning: “What did you write? A political leader in the country’s history has ever deposited such a petition?” He added: “My inclination is to reject the petition with a fine.”
Judge Mazhar pointed out that the content of the petition was embarrassing for the high court judges. “If such words were used about me, I would also have been ashamed,” said judge Mazhar, referring to the content of the petition.
