The Samsung Galaxy S25 has the same main camera sensor as the Samsung Galaxy S24, so although this camera works quite well, it is really due to an upgrade with the Samsung Galaxy S26. Fortunately, an upgrade is what we could get.
According to GalaxyClub, the Samsung Galaxy S26 will have a new 50MP sensor. Now, this is not a change in megapixels, but the site says that “as long as we understand”, it will be a new model in the Samsung ISOCELL GN series, and perhaps one that has not yet been announced. It would be in place of the ISOCELL 50MP GN3 in the Samsung Galaxy S25.
Although there is no mention here of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus, we expect it to also have this new sensor because the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus has the same sensor as the S25 base. This assumes that there is a Galaxy S26 Plus, because some reports claim that Samsung plans to abandon this model in favor of a Samsung Galaxy S26 edge.
Samsung or Sony?
Speaking of the S26 Edge, the @jukanlosreve leak said that this base and the Samsung Galaxy S26 base will use a Sony 50MP sensor. It is therefore slightly in contradiction with the claim above, because if the two leaks point to a new 50 Mp sensor for the Galaxy S26, there is a disagreement on the brand.

However, it then seems likely that the sensor is changing, even if we don’t know what. The equipment of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge of a 50 MP sensor seems however a strange choice, because the Samsung Galaxy S25 edge has a 200MP. Less megapixels does not necessarily mean a reduction in quality, but that may not look great from the point of view of marketing.
We take all this with a pinch of salt anyway, because the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will probably not be before before the beginning of 2026.
However, we have started to hear a lot about these phones, with previous leaks pointing larger batteries in the whole S26 series, while the basic model could have an Exynos 2600 chipset in certain regions, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could obtain a new lens and a variable opening.
So it seems that there could be many upcomes to come to the flagship series of Samsung.
