A low-pressure pedal system formed above the Oman Sea of the Center-East and could intensify during the weekend, the weather authorities of Pakistan announced on Thursday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the meteorological system was located about 1,075 kilometers south-east of Karachi, near the 16.4 N latitude and longitude 71.9 E.
According to the PMD, the system is currently moving north and can evolve towards depression in the next 36 hours. If favorable conditions persist, it could be more strengthened in a deep depression or even a cyclonic storm on May 24 or May 25.
There is currently no threat to the coastal areas of Pakistan, officials said, but the system is closely monitored by Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi.
Meteorologists say that hot sea surface temperatures fuel system growth. The development weather model is also likely to disrupt Karachi’s navy breeze, leading to extremely hot conditions of the city.
Although a cyclone alert has been published in certain regions of India, currently, there is no threat to any Pakistani coastal zone.
The PMD cyclone alert center, Karachi watched the system and will keep the relevant districts head -on.
