The loss of Hurricanes was their 14th consecutive in the conference final, going back to the sweeping in 2009, 2019 and the Tour of 2023 with the Panthers.

“I think we are all a bit at a loss,” said Hurricanes striker Taylor Hall.

At one point, the fans began to sing: “Pull the washer! Pull on the washer!” The Hurricanes only succeeded in 17 shots in defeat.

“This game is mental,” said Staal. “I mean, it’s all about brain and your concentration and thoughts that can slip there. It must be the thoughts that we have thought all year round, and it is playing our game and focusing on our changes and our battles and do what we do.

“When you let these thoughts like that, it never looks good. I think we have to believe the group and what we have done and what we did all year round and steal one in match 3.”

Carolina’s last victory in terms of the conference final took place in match 7 in 2006 against Buffalo in the sole title of the franchise Cup. The current head coach Rod Brind’amour was the captain of this team who marked the winner of the third period against the Buffalo sabers.

Now Brind’amour hopes to direct a turnaround in match 3, scheduled for 8 p.m. HE on Saturday.
