A school district of a state with a democratic governor voted to keep organic boys outside girls sports.

Washington’s school district of Quilcene voted 3-2 to maintain sports competition according to the birth sex of athletes.

The decision challenges a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) policy, promulgated in 2007, which allows transgender students to participate according to their gender identity.

According to Fox 13, the member of the board of directors, Ron Frantz, said that “title IX is the law” and that sports should be preserved according to birth sex.

But another member, Vivian Kuehl, said that he was “immoral” to keep transgender women outside the sports of girls and women, according to Seattle Times.

The vote was taken on May 7. State governor Bob Ferguson beat the republican candidate Dave Reichert in November. The state has not had a republican governor from John Spellman, from 1981 to 1985.

President Donald Trump signed a decree in February to keep the organic boys away from the sports of girls and women, but the superintendent of the state of Washington of public education, Chris Reykdal, said that the order challenges the law of the state.

“State law prohibits discrimination based on gender identity, and we will not back down,” said Reykdal at the time.

Later this month, Reykdal said it would be “inaccurate” to say that there are only two sexes.

Bill that would prohibit transgender athletes from participating in the sports of girls and women have been introduced in the state but are not adopted.

However, the question has become so worrying for residents that the WIAA announced a proposal in December to create a separate open division for transgender athletes to participate.

In May, a Trans athlete participated in a female cross-country championship and won.

The athlete won the 400 -meter heat race in the girls’ division with a time of 55.59 seconds. The second runner finished in 58.83 seconds. In the final, the Trans athlete won with a time of 55.75 seconds, a complete second in front of the second runner who finished in 56.75.

The complaint indicated that the Tumwater school district in Washington investigates Frances Staudt, 15, for having “questioned” the opponent and violating district policies against intimidation and harassment.

Several other states have challenged Trump’s decree on the issue, which led to the temporary loss of federal funding.
