Govt promises to make PRs with passengers

Islamabad:

The Federal Minister of Railways Hanif Abbasi reaffirmed the government’s commitment on Sunday to transform the Pakistani railways into a modern, reliable and suitable mode of transport to passengers.

“Efforts are underway to make the railroad a reliable and preferred travel mode,” he said while paying an unexpected visit to Margalla station.

The Minister evaluated the global facilities and has engaged directly with passengers and staff.

During his visit, Abbasi made a detailed inspection of the cleanliness provisions in the resort premises and expressed his satisfaction with the efforts of the staff.

He asked the station authorities to ensure that high hygiene and sanitation standards are systematically maintained.

He personally inspected each train coach parked on the platform, assessing the conditions and the on-board installations provided to passengers.

He also took the time to interact with travelers, listening carefully to their complaints and suggestions concerning rail services.

The Minister had discussions with railway staff on the quality of service and various operational challenges.

He also examined the progress of current development projects to improve the infrastructure of the Margalla station.

The Minister announced his intention to introduce recreational facilities at Margalla station and said that specially designed public restaurants were also being studied in the future development of the station.

Last month, it was reported that the Pakistani railways faced serious problems to guarantee gently train operations across the country, because a large part of its rolling stock has become a surplus, with 58% of the entire locomotive fleet ending its functional lifespan.
