An current heat wave across southern Punjab has sparked a sharp increase in skin ailments.
A skin specialist, Dr. Waqas Arqam Malik, said that heat and sweat contributed to the spread of fungal infections, rashes, bodily odor problems and acne thrusts.
He added that blocked sweat pores provide reproductive ground for bacteria and fungi, especially in people with oily or sensitive skin.
Patients suffering from thorny heat, infections under their arms, foot fungi and castes in body folds visit clinics in increasing number.
If it is not dealt with, these conditions can cause recurrent skin pigmentation and inflammation, added the doctor.
He advised people to maintain personal hygiene by taking showers twice a day during intense perspiration, using antifungal powders in skin folds and avoiding thick creams and makeup, which can block pores.
He recommended wearing light and coward -colored cotton clothes, staying hydrated and changing clothes soaked in sweat regularly.
He also advised to avoid direct sunlight between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and apply a sunscreen before going outside.
