While McLaughlin was driving in turn 1, his vehicle lost adhesion during a fraction of a second and he started to turn. He hit the wall, damaging his vehicle and finally cost him his day.
“We have another race next week, but this race is everything for us,” he told Fox Sports after the end of the race. “I didn’t even see the green flag.
“My heart is broken. Not good.”

“I really have no idea what happened,” he told Jamie Little of Fox Sports when leaving the interior care center. “I am really upset for my team. They still built a fantastic car to me. I’m really sorry for my sponsors, for my fans, my family. I don’t know what happened.
“I cannot believe that we came out of the race. I had so much hope today. Yes, probably the worst moment of my life.”
