It was the most watched Indianapolis 500 in 17 years, according to Fox Sports. The latest Indy 500 to draw comparable audiences was the 2008 race, which collected an audience of 7.245 million. Fox Sports said the hearing increased 40% compared to last year’s race.

It was the first year that Fox broadcast Indianapolis 500.

Palou exceeded Marcus Ericsson with 14 laps to do in the race and held him as well as the rest of the peloton at a distance to win the race. It was the fifth victory of the 2025 season for Palou and the first time that a Spaniard had won the Indy 500.

Palou started the race in sixth position on the second row outside of Scott Dixon and next to Felix Rosenqvist. He needed to work hard to go to the front while persistent droplets of rain and several prudence flags came out, which could have interrupted his momentum at any time.

As the race went down, he had his opportunity to move around Ericsson. He had a little traffic in front of him, but they did not seem to hinder Palou’s ability to win at all. For Palou, it was a jubilation in the front with the anticipation of kissing the bricks and icy milk to cool it after the exhausting event.
