Marcus Ericsson’s world car world has not succeeded in the technical inspection after the race.
Ericsson, who finished behind the winner of Indianapolis 500, Alex Palou, was then pushed to the back of the field of 33 cars. Ericsson was stripped of his finalist and was moved to 31st place.
The car of his world teammate Andretti, Kyle Kirkwood, also failed the inspection. As a result, Kirkwood was relegated to 32nd place. He first finished the race in sixth place.

Indycar said that the changes made by Andretti Global were to the covers of the energy management system provided by Dallara, the company that provides the chassis for the series. The rules book stipulates that these parts should be used as provided.
Being moved to the back of the field also led to the price loss of Ericsson and Kirkwood and the championship points of their original finishes. The two drivers will rather receive the money and the points associated with their penalized finish.
Each car was also sentenced to a fine of $ 100,000, and the competition officials for the teams were suspended for the next race in the streets of Detroit.

It was an incredibly expensive swing for Andretti because the Indy 500 bag this year was a record of $ 20,283,000, winner Palou should receive $ 3.8 million. Ericsson will receive $ 610,500 for finishing 31st when he could have won up to $ 1 million in second.
Kirkwood should earn $ 607,500 after being credited for the 32nd arrival.

“We had a big race, we came across the line in sixth,” said Kirkwood. “We are going to go through the (examination) process, and this team is built on the sporting spirit. They are built on integrity, and we will try to do everything properly in the future.”
The disqualifications changed the finishing order of the podium, with David Malukas of Aj Foyt Racing in the second and Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren passing to the third. For the Foyt team, combined in fifth place in Santino Ferrucci, he marked the best Indy 500 place in 25 years for the team.
Callum Ilott’s car n ° 90 also failed the technical inspection after the race after failing to comply with the minimum height of the termination plate and the location specification. Prema Racing has received the same penalties as a global and which rather means that the 12th, Ilott will be recognized for finishing last in “The Greatest show in Racing”.
