Karachi: The Sindh government has inflicted a ban on offering Ajraks and Sindhi ceilings in addition to preventing children from welcoming guests in school ceremonies.
A notification was issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy, which ordered the senior public school officers and the Allied Institutions to “remove the tradition of presenting Ajrak, Topi and any other type of donations during official meetings, functions or ceremonies”.
In addition, the tradition of having children welcoming guests, delegates and secretarial officers must be arrested, he read.
The provincial government specifically asked the relevant authorities to strictly respect the letter and spirit without exception.

This ban was imposed after the Minister of Education of the Sindh, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, expressed his dissatisfaction with the government officers for giving gifts during a ceremony on May 16 linked to the supply of meals in public schools.
