Marshall revealed the new model in its range of medium-sized Bluetooth speakers, the Marshall Kilburn III, launched worldwide on May 27, 2025.
In order to compete with the best Bluetooth speakers, the Marshall Kilburn III has made drastic improvements compared to its predecessor. The new model has more than 50 hours of play, dust and IP54 tightness, as well as a more luxurious design.
But with these improvements, it has an swollen price. The Marshall Kilburn III has a list price of $ 379 / £ 299 / $ 599 at, $ 80 $ 50 / £ 100 more than the cost of Kilburn II at launch. That said, there are a lot of upgrades and additions to explore on the last speaker of Marshall, as I discovered when I was able to try it at the Marshall headquarters in Stockholm, in Sweden.
Here are my first thoughts on the new Kilburn III Flashy.
A taste of the kilburn III
So, I’m going to put my cards on the table – I didn’t have tons time to listen to the Kilburn III. The main reason for my trip to Stockholm was to see Marshall’s very first attempt in a sound bar with the Marshall Heston 120. But I had a few good minutes of listening through a selection of variable genres, in a space that essentially imitated a living room.
To cut in pursuit, the Kilburn III made me a good first impression. The Marshall audio team has focused a lot on the “real” 360 degree stereophonic of the speaker of the speaker, intended to provide a clear and powerful sound, no matter where you stand. And it seemed to be effective for me when I was rhythm in space, with a pleasant sound and without distortion at all times.
In addition, the Kilburn III is designed to prepare a rounded and “harmonious” sound signature. I was found by impressive balance through frequencies, even strong volumes. And this is not surprising given the dynamic resistance technology of the speaker, which automatically adjusts the bass, the mediums and the treble according to the volume to which you play tracks.
Indeed, the Kilburn III has completely reintd the acoustics to make the step of its predecessor, which impressed us overall, although we thought there was a place for improvement at a low level. But sound is not the only thing that has been refined; The construction and appearance of the speaker have also been taken from a notch.
Many customers, Marshall told me, preferred the overall kilburn aesthetics, which launched 10 years ago. Consequently, the company has chosen to base the new Kilburn model on its original, and I really liked its appearance.
Having already lived in Kilburn, I must say that this Bluetooth speaker is much prettier than the London district, after which he is named. It has a look inspired by retro amplifier with a pin to turn on or deactivate power, touch buttons for volume and control of the playback, and a “M” button to access the presets. The Kilburn III is available in black and brass or cream, the two colors playing the speaker’s premium sensation.
Detail
After having traveled some of the Kilburn III technological specifications, I really expect it to be a significant step on its predecessor.
It has a wider range of frequencies, now descending up to 45 Hz, up to 20 kHz typical. This should mean that he is even more capable of hitting these deep dark bass notes than the Kilburn II. New more powerful drivers should also mean that you are doing a lot of power from this speaker, but you will have to wait for my full review to see if it is really the case.
Something we can say with certainty, however, is that the Marshall Kilburn III is much more capable of using the bathrooms or going out for a rainy day. Indeed, it is now delivered with an IP54 DUST -and waterproof rating – a significant step in relation to the IPX2 protection of Kilburn II.
Marshall told me that this model was supposed to be more an “interior declaration”, due to models such as the Marshall Emberton III and Marshall Middleton, Middleton, occupying the robust space. But still, having this improved durability is a good in Have.
However, the biggest change per kilburn III may be the lifespan of its battery. The Kilburn II offered more than 20 hours of play, which is solid, but nothing particularly remarkable. However, the Kilburn III really makes things happen to the next level, providing more than 50 hours of play – really phenomenal things. For reference, this is the longest life of the battery of all Marshall loudspeakers to date – not bad, huh?
I could continue: you can adjust EQ via the Marshall Reworked Application; Use the speaker to load external devices; Access Auracast connectivity; And even detach his chic transport strap. But that’s it for the moment. I will soon be back to give my complete and not filtered reflections on the Kilburn III. In other words, after spending a little time testing it here in Future Labs.
If you are already sold, however, you can enter the Marshall Kilburn III now via the own Marshall website. It will also be available for purchase via certain retailers from June 10.
