Shawn Kemp, who spent the majority of his career in the NBA with the Supersonics of Seattle, pleaded guilty during the shooting in 2023 outside the Tacoma shopping center in Washington.
The Pierce Comté lawyer’s office confirmed that Kemp had admitted to having attacked the second degree in the incident. The six-time NBA All-Star initially faced accusations of first degree assault with a firearm. The prosecutors subsequently nailed during a second first degree assault chief and a car firing accusation.

If he had been convicted of the initial accusations, the 55 -year -old could have been against a considerably longer prison sentence. A source close to Kemp said that when the retired NBA player approached the vehicle, a suspect had shot him and he retaliated into self -defense. Police said no one had been injured during the shooting.

Kemp still risks the possibility of prison sentence. A second degree assault in Washington leads to a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $ 20,000. The conviction is scheduled for August 22.
