- A new update for the Philips Hue mobile application now takes place
- The application now suggests adding new sensors and switches to an area during the configuration process
- This avoids a problem where the lighting scenes are not available later
If you have already had trouble configuring new sensors and switches for your Philips shade lights, the help is at hand. A new application update is in deployment now that automatically suggests adding accessories to an area when you connect them for the first time, so as not to miss functionalities later.
An area is a set of lights and other accessories that you want to control together in a group. They don’t necessarily need to be in the same place or include all the lights in a room. For example, you may want to create an area specifically for your home entertainment lighting, or which includes all the lights on a particular floor.
Previously, assigning new devices to a room or an area was an optional step in the Philips Hue application, which you could miss if you were in a hurry. If you did, you could not use all the functions of the switch or the sensor afterwards. For example, you may not be able to view all the available scenes (ready -to -use lighting profiles).
The new application update has been spotted by the editor -in -chief of Hueblog.com, who says that it is often contacted by readers trapped in this frustrating “accessory trap”. From now on, the application suggests creating at least one area during the configuration process so that you do not undergo this problem, and you will note that you can always hide the areas in the future if you prefer.
Simpler configuration
There is also a change in the configuration process when you install a new Philips Hue security camera. As Notebookcheck explains, the application now offers you the possibility of configuring movement controlled by a movement during the initial configuration process.
Both are relatively minor changes, and there are still no news on the next assistant at Philips Hue AI. However, they solve certain common problems that you may face when extending your Philips shade configuration and your best smart lights are even better.
