The Japanese audio brand Aviot presented what it says is the first 3-driver “Tribrid” driver in the world, Wa-J1-and it has made a special edition in collaboration with J-Pop Hyde star.
What is a Tribride? According to Aviot, it is a piezo pilot, a planar magnetic driver and a dynamic pilot, and together, they offer “an overwhelming information density and unprecedented acoustic performance”.
And they do it for an incredibly long period: the battery life is 140 hours claimed, although it is not specified whether it is with an active cancellation of the noise or not (I to have to assume not).
When three drivers are better than
As Aviot explains, the piezo driver is there for high frequencies, and planar and dynamic drivers are placed coaxial with him to take care of the mediums and stockings, all with a very low distortion and very little phase disorders. The result, says the company, is very great precision.
The supported audio formats include LDAC and Bluetooth Audio (the latter via a future update) as well as compulsory AAC and SBC, and there is an adaptive noise cancellation with a mode of transparency.
The headphones also offer a 3D space audio. This option is adjustable via the control dial, allowing you to spatialize the audio to adapt to your personal preferences – very flat to very reverberant sonic spaces. And for players, there is a low latency mode to reduce the lag.
The headphones will be put up for sale in Japan in July 2025 with a price of 39,600 yen – around $ 270 / £ 200 £ / $ 424 at – and will be available to ship worldwide.
