Pakistan has decided to upgrade its business in Kabul to the rank of ambassador, the ISHAQ DAR Foreign Minister on X, Radio Pakistan, announced on Friday.
He expressed the confidence that the upgrade would improve the commitment and deepen Pakistani-Afghanistan cooperation in the economic, security, the fight against terrorism and commerce sectors. In addition, it should promote other exchanges between the two fraternal countries.
Announcing the decision to modernize the diplomatic representation, Dar said that bilateral relations had been on a positive trajectory since he visited Kabul with a Pakistani delegation last month. “I am convinced that this step would contribute more to an improved commitment,” he said on X.

China, which organized an informal meeting last week between the government and the Afghan Taliban administration, said that the two countries were planning to upgrade their diplomatic ties.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have had a tense relationship since the Taliban administration took power after the withdrawal of NATO forces led by the United States.
Islamabad says that Islamist activists who launch attacks inside Pakistan use Afghan soil. Kabul denies this, saying that such militancy is the domestic problem of Pakistan to manage.
No country has officially recognized the Taliban administration because it has taken power, the foreign powers calling for changing the female rights. Pakistan becomes the fourth country after China, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan to designate an ambassador to Kabul.
Although these governments say that they have not officially recognized the Taliban government, diplomats and experts say that having an ambassador officially presents their diplomas represents a step towards recognition.
