Paris: hundreds of fans of Paris Saint-Germain flocked to the streets of Paris on Saturday evening to celebrate the first title of the Champions League of their club.
While most of the supporters have applauded, sung and dancing peacefully, police arrested nearly 300 people after certain celebrations have become rowdy. Fireworks have been triggered and clashes have broken out near famous sites such as the Champs-Élysées and the Parc des Princes Stadium.
The police used water cannons to control the crowd, while the night of joy had become tense in certain parts of the city.
Paris police said that eraflues had broken out near the city champion of the city and the PSG princes park stadium, where 48,000 had seen the 5-0 victory against Inter Milan in Munich on large screens.
Most of the nearly 300 detained people were suspected of having fireworks and causing unrest, Paris police said.
AFP journalists saw the police using a water cannon to prevent a crowd from reaching the triumphal arch.
“The champions-Élysées disturbances were sought to create incidents and had come into contact with the police on several occasions by launching large fireworks and other objects,” the police said in a statement.
Apart from Paris, the police said that a car had a career in fans celebrating PSG victory in Grenoble in the south-east of France, leaving four injured, two of them seriously.
All of these injuries came from the same family, police said.
The driver returned to the police and was put in arrest.
A source close to the investigation said it was believed that the driver had not acted intentionally.
In Paris, most fans have shown their joy by singing and dancing in the streets, with sound cars, after their team won the European Club European Football Prix for the first time in their history.
A 20 -year -old PSG supporter, Clément, said: “It’s so good and so deserved! We have a song that talks about our difficulties and it has not always been easy.
But we have recovered our faith this year with a team without stars. 11 guys are playing for each other. “”
The office of French president Emmanuel Macron said that he would welcome the victorious players on Sunday to congratulate them.
In a separate message on X, Macron praised a “day of glory for PSG”.
“Well done, we are all proud,” he wrote. “Paris is the capital of Europe this evening.”
The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, praised her as a “historic” victory.
The PSG team will hold a victory parade on the Champs-Élysées on Sunday, when tens of thousands of supporters should meet to have a glimpse of their return heroes.
