Cincinnati Reds star, Elly de La Cruz, struck an emotional circuit on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs and paid tribute to her sister, who learned the day before the match.
De la Cruz struck a two-point circuit and crossed the plate twice in the defeat of the 7-3 Reds against the Cubs.

Reds manager Terry Francona said that the stop stop wanted to play in the game despite the emotions of the death of his sister, Genelis.
“It is so proud to be available,” said Francona. “Guys like that, Carlos Santana in Cleveland was very similar, and for a child, it’s so young, it’s an admirable line.”
Francona added that times like these give a good reminder of what is “really important”.
“We care so much to play a game and win, but in a hurry, you remember what is really important,” said Francona. “So, I think everyone has somehow kept their heads on a pivot with him today, just trying to take care of him.”

The Cruz circuit came out of the Cubs Jameson Taillon launcher at the top of the sixth. As he crossed the marble, he pointed the sky and made a heart with his hands.
He refused to speak to the media after the match, and the Reds did not provide more details on his death, citing the wishes of the player.
Z101 digital from the Dominican Republic reported that Genelis died on Saturday after a long health battle.
De la Cruz strikes .258 with an OPS of 0.786 in 60 games for the Reds this season. It has 12 circuits and 42 points produced.
