The federal government has announced a significant reduction in trains for the three days of Eidul Azha, as part of its efforts to facilitate travel during the holiday season, Express News reported.

Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi confirmed development on Monday in a press conference, declaring that five special trains are used for Eidul Azha.

“Special trains will be operational for the duration of the holidays to facilitate the transport of people traveling in their native cities for the occasion,” he said. He also assured that the agreements concluded with the media would be fully honored.

Stressing the achievements of the Pakistani railways, Abbasi mentioned that the department had reached important stages during its 77 years of history, especially in the past 11 months. “The performance of Pakistani railways has been exceptional,” he added.

In addition, Abbasi revealed that the Pakistani railways generated income thanks to its rented properties. “In accordance with the vision of the Prime Minister, Royal Palm will be outsourced, with transparency in the tender process, and the offers will be open in its own right,” said the minister.

Abbasi has also announced a budget allowance of 1 billion rupees for the eight rail hospitals. He said efforts were underway to outsource these hospitals, but promised that medical services for railway employees would remain free of charge.
