Riot Platforms (Riot) draws the veteran from the data center to extend beyond Bitcoin farm

Riot Platforms (Riot) hired the veteran of the industry Jonathan Gibbs as director of the data center, marking a strategic decision by minor Bitcoin to branch beyond the crypto in the broader data infrastructure sector.

Gibbs brings more than 15 years of experience and a curriculum vitae which includes the design and construction of more than one gigawatt of data center capacity across North America, Europe and Asia. He was recently executive vice-president of the Data Centers, where he led projects across the United States

Now, he is responsible for launching the new Riot data center platform for companies that require massive IT power to support Cloud and Artificial Intelligence. The company plans to develop installations not focused on Bitcoin, taking advantage of 1.7 gigawatts of electrical capacity which it already controls.

The CEO of the company, Jason, said that the new initiative “would evolve aggressively” to meet growing demand. In the event of success, Riot could join an increasing list of old mining companies repositioning themselves as key stakeholders in AI and Boom in IA and Cloud infrastructure.
