Rawalpindi:
The incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf, Imran Khan, refused a polygraphic test (lies detector test) requested by the Lahore police investigation for the fourth time, delaying the probe progress in the Riots case of May 9.
A police investigation team, led by DSP Asif Javed de Lahore, arrived at Adiala prison on Monday to carry out a polygraphic test, a photogrammetric test and a vocal correspondence test in relation to 11 cases recorded in Lahore linked to the events of May 9.
The members of the Punjab Medico-Legal Unit were also part of the team, which included inspectors Muhammad Aslam, Tasaduq, Saleem and Naveed, as well as the technical expert Abid Ayub.
The prison administration informed the founder of the PTI, but he refused to participate in the investigation. Sources said Imran had been informed that the investigation team had arrived with a court order. However, he again refused to undergo the tests.
Sources have added that before, Imran had set the condition that he would only cooperate and suffered tests in the presence of his lawyers.
However, when the investigation team returned with his legal team, he submitted a written declaration informing them that article 13 of the Constitution protects him against being forced to participate in an investigation or to undergo tests which could produce evidence against him.
Sources have also said that it was the fourth time that the founder of the PTI had refused to pass the tests. The investigation can only advance if the tests are carried out, as they are necessary to determine if the allegations against him are accurate.
Despite his refusal, the Lahore -based investigation team waited four hours, but the founder of the PTI did not accept the tests. Finally, the investigation team returned to Lahore.
