The next version of Apple’s office operating system for its Mac, to take the MacOS 15 Sequioa stick next year, will be apparently MacOS Tahoe.
According to Mark Gurman’s newsletter for Bloomberg – a leak that has already pointed out an apparent change in the numbering, predicting that it will be MacOS 26, not 16 – Lake Tahoe is apparently the next place that Apple will name his product afterwards.
Cue a bunch of jokes drawing similarities between the following macos and the obstacle chevrolet Tahoe, and ironic comments on how the operating system is necessarily swollen and slow.
As always, it is always a rumor, so we should not get carried away with the idea – although Gurman is one of the most prolific and reliable apple leaks, for sure.
In any case, whatever the next embodiment of macOS really called, when it is, and what can you expect?
Let us dive into these details and touch some of the main features of rumors to be monitored in MacOS 16, or even MacOS 26 – Tahoe – before Apple’s major revelations on the WWDC 25 operating system soon.
MacOS 16: release date
MacOS Tahoe has not yet been officially revealed or spoken, but we expect to see it announced at WWDC 2025, which starts on June 9.
A potential release date has not been broadcast either. However, Apple generally deploys its new version of MacOS in September or October, so we can probably expect the refreshed office operating system to take place on MACs at that time.
MacOS 16: The new features of rumors
1. A brand new look
If you are bored a bit with the appearance of macOS, which has not changed much because this decade has rolled, here is a potential of good news – one of the major rumor changes for Tahoe is a reworked look.
Although it is not much in detail was provided, the rumor that the interface is again due to a strong overhaul comes from Mark Gurman. In theory, this is part of a plan to align the design language and the appearance of Apple software on iOS, macOS and iPados (as well as other platforms).
So, this will be even more advantageous for those who have several Apple devices to have icons or menus of similar appearance (and more, without a doubt).
2. Characteristics of the accessibility to the shovel
Apple recently announced a series of new accessibility features in its various devices, including Macs, and some of them will surely start in MacOS Tahoe.
This includes the personal voice, which can capture the voice of someone who loses their ability to speak and the magnificent for Mac. The latter uses your iPhone (or a USB camera) to be able to zoom in, say, a distant whiteboard, and present the writing on the user’s card on the screen of their Mac – seriously clever things for those who are odd vision.
In the same vein, the accessibility reader can take pictures of pages of books and show them on the Mac display, allowing the zoom or the modification of fonts or colors to make things clearer.
3. Wi-fi Timesaver
It is a feature that comes with iOS 19, according to Gurman, but logically, it must also apply to MacOS Tahoe (and other Apple platforms in addition), because it is a question of unifying Wi-Fi public connections on several Apple devices for more convenience.
As it is, when you are in a hotel, a gym or another place with public Wi-Fi, you may have to fill out a form before you can connect to the network and go online. Doing this on several devices is even more painful, but with this new feature, you will only have to fill out said form, and all your other Apple devices will automatically use these details.
So, for example, approach the form on your MacBook, and you will also be ready to go to your iPhone and iPad – Careful.
