Innovators have recognized the day of the environment

Islamabad:

To launch the celebrations of World Environment Day, DevCom-Pakistan welcomed the Environmental Awards and Conference of Best Practices 2025 Pakistan under the theme “Beyond plastic waste-navigate the climate and environmental risks”.

The organizers have gathered leading voices in environmental policy, science, conservation and sustainable development. World Environment Day, observed each year on June 5 since 1973 as part of the United Nations Environment Program (UNP), is the largest global environmental awareness platform. This year, the world celebration is organized by the Republic of Korea by emphasizing the end of plastic pollution – a major threat to climatic objectives, ocean health, biodiversity and human well -being.

The prices of the conservation of the environment (individuals) recognized the green champions, in particular Rina Saeed Khan, for its voluntary transformer leadership as president of the board of directors of Islamabad Wildlife.

Sana Raja, for her exceptional fauna rescue efforts, including the rehabilitation of endangered species such as pangolins and dance bears. The USMAN teacher, for his Community Rain Water Harvest Initiative, building more than 770 ponds and promoting water conservation in mosques.

Muhammad Irshad Ramay, an environmental engineer who has established a more specific production center in Pakistan, promoting the sustainability and efficiency of resources. Riffat Ara Baig, for having started more than 5,000 students in environmental art, awareness campaigns and cleaning readers since 1996.

Silvia Shamoon, for her work of a decade in improving slum environments thanks to the planting of trees, the segregation of waste and the empowerment of young people.

Special mentions were made for Dr. Mehar Nigar for his initiative “Saaf Muhalla Saaf Pakistan”. Kashaf Akhtar for the launch of a startup that recycles single -use plastics in ecological planters and tiles.

The Federal Minister of the Investment Committee (BOI) gave a hard -hitting speech and praised the price initiative as a stage towards the recognition and motivation of sustainability efforts in the country.

He said: “Beating plastic pollution is not only an environmental necessity – it is a national imperative.
