If you are a Spotify user like me, you will certainly remember the flop that has been spotted wrapped 2024, which received the most negative comments than any of the platform’s musical summary in previous years – and I stayed far from silence.
Packed with inaccurate listening data associated with a lack of creativity in its graphics, Spotify wrapped 2024 was an epic failure, and now Spotify itself admits that it was wrong.
Last week, Spotify organized its annual open door event in Stockholm, inviting journalists to ask questions on the growth plans of its platform. Between the questions on the features of the AI and Spotify Hifi, the platform was asked about the way in which he planned to bring his game together with his annual enveloped musical summary – and the CPO Gustav Södersröm took the reins.
“If you look at the figures, it was the biggest wrapped that we never had” Söderström replied, adding “but there were more negative comments than we have already seen”. These negative comments of users were largely in response to the false listening data of packp: the users reported that the artists showed them artists that they had not broadcast in 2024 at all.
Now that we are almost halfway from 2025, this enveloped year is already in a lot of mind music fans who, like me, wonder which artists and songs will appear and if the data will be correct this time. It may seem far from now, but Spotify “already works hard to (wrapped) the best it has ever been”.
What is in store for Spotify wrapped in 2025?
During its open door event, Spotify representatives did not have entered into details on the new measures that Spotify would adapt to improve the musical summary of this year, but to judge by its recognition of the negative comments of users, we can assume that there will be a change in the way Spotify presents your streaming data.
Söderström also discussed the comments of users who compared 2024 wrapped in the success of previous years, sharing: “I think people just wanted something more recent, something that was not there the previous year. There were also comments that some of the things that people have loved for years before were not there. ”
This brings me to think that spotify wrapped 2025 will most likely get a new look with more innovative graphics (hopefully), but the possibility that the features of the past of packp can return is also on the table. I pray for the return of the characteristic of the city of the sound of 2023, which brought together the listeners into “cities” according to their own listening habits.
