Russian President Vladimir Putin told Donald Trump in a telephone conversation Moscow should respond to the recent Ukrainian drone attacks, the American president said.
Trump said the two men “had discussed the attack on Russia’s moored planes by Ukraine, as well as various other attacks on both sides.”
Putin “said, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on aerodromes,” said Trump in an article on social networks.

Trump said it was “a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate peace”.
Moscow said earlier on Wednesday that military options were “on the table” for his response to Ukrainian attacks in the depths of Russia and accused the West of getting involved.
Russia has also urged the United States and Great Britain to remember kyiv after the attacks, which Ukrainian officials praised because kyiv’s assembly can still retaliate after more than three years of war.
British and American officials said they had no prior knowledge of weekend attacks on long-range Russian bombers with nuclear rage.
In his article on social networks, Trump said he and Putin also discussed Iran. Putin suggested that he would participate in talks aimed at reaching a new nuclear agreement with Tehran, Trump said.
“I told President Putin that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and, on this subject, I think we agreed,” said Trump. He accused Iran of “slow walking” decisions concerning talks.
“I think Iran has slowly walks on their decision on this very important affair, and we will need a final response in a very short time!”
The Republican has repeatedly alarmed kyiv and the Western allies by appearing in Putin during the war, and had a row of flamboyant oval office with the Ukrainian president to visit Volodymyr Zelensky.
But Trump has also shown growing frustration with Putin, because Russia has so far derailed the American president’s efforts to honor a campaign commitment to end the war within 24 hours – even if he never explained how it could be achieved.
The call between Trump and Putin, however, has shown that Washington and Moscow can look at cooperation on another key global problem – Iran.
Trump said he thought they were both “okay” that Iran could not have a nuclear weapon, and this time would run out for Tehran to answer the American offers from an agreement.
“President Putin suggested that he will participate in discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be useful for this to be a quick conclusion,” said Trump.
Putin told her Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian that Moscow was ready to advance talks on a nuclear agreement, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
But Iran’s supreme chief, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Washington’s proposal on Wednesday was against Tehran’s national interest, in the midst of strong differences as to Tehran could continue to enrich uranium.
