- A list of iphones supporting iOS 19 – which could be called iOS 26 – Disclosed
- The iPhone XR, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max may miss
- Apple will unveil the software next week
Apple should tell us everything about its big plans for iOS 19 – which can be renamed as iOS 26 – next week, and a new rumor suggests that this year’s software update will leave some iPhone models.
According to a “very reliable” source in contact with Macrumors, the oldest handsets that will support iOS 19 are the iPhone 11 models and the iPhone SE 2.. These phones launched in September 2019 and April 2020 respectively.
In terms of phones that can run iOS 18 but which can not apparently run his successor, we say goodbye to the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. These three iPhones were all announced by Apple in September 2018.
Keep in mind that none of this is yet confirmed by Apple. It should also be noted that even if these older phones lack iOS 26, they can always obtain security updates for a certain time – the iPhone 8 recently obtained an update in March 2025, for example.
Here is what is coming
In addition to the change of brand from iOS 19 to iOS 26, we have heard a lot of rumors on the next software update for the iPhone. The interface will apparently receive an overhaul, which has in fact been on in the WWDC 2025 invitations of Apple.
A multitude of new features should make an appearance on messages, music and notes, including automatic translations for messages in a foreign language and animated album art for your reading lists that appear on the lock screen.
There have also been leaks on a dedicated game center that crosses iPhones and other Apple devices, as well as the introduction of more AI vocal assistants that work with iOS – including, perhaps, Google Gemini.
Everything will be revealed on Monday, June 9 at the World Conference of Apple Developers (WWDC): the showcase of the annual software for iOS, macOS, iPados, etc. We will cover the event and all the lives live, and if you want to follow, consult our guide on how to watch the event.
