- The Garmin Index Sleep Monitor quickly becomes a secret ofo
- A Garmin regional arm would have published a one -minute video with the device
- The video was quickly withdrawn, but gadgets and portable devices managed to grasp some screenshots
The fact that Garmin enters the best sleep tracking race with a new product, which is called the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor, is no longer a new one. Several leaks in the past two weeks have almost confirmed the existence of the product. However, this time, the flight apparently comes from Garmin himself, as he published – then quickly removed – a video featuring the product. The call comes from inside the house!
Reported for the first time by Gadgets & Wearables, a regional branch of Garmin first published the video. The report does not mention what region, and as the video has been deleted, we are unable to return to the YouTube channel which initially published it.
Nevertheless, gadgets and portable devices have apparently caught screenshots of the video before being deleted, showing the device in action. The shots show a portable heart rate monitor attached to the user’s upper arm via a velcro strap, designed to be worn during sleep only. It is not a fitness tracker without Whoop style screen as previously thought. You can display these images in the link above.
Gadgets and portable devices confirm that the device will pack a vibrant intelligent alarm as well as a seven -day battery life and a usual series of Garmin data collected by its optical heart rate monitor and its sensor networks.
These include heart rate, variability in heart rate and skin temperature, as well as a new metric called respiratory variation. It is probably an evolution towards recording cases of sleep apnea.
Garmin’s big bet on sleep
We have reported previous leaks indicating that the device would probably cost 170 euros, or $ 200 £ 150 / $ 300 in. It is a lot of money for a complementary system that does something that your Garmin watch can already make, it is not a fitness tracker either.
It is said that it interfaces with Garmin Connect in the same way as your watch, so the intention is likely to wear your watch during the day and the sleep instructor more precise at night.
As a sleep tracker only, the positioning of the upper arm will allow more precise heart rate readings, but we are particularly interested in the sleep apnea function. Apple made its debut on the function of sleep apnea notifications on the best Apple watches of last year, and Samsung fell asleep with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Ring.
Your bed quickly becomes the next large portable border. We will surely know about the Garmin Index sleep instructor when it was launched – and if promotional documents have already been disclosed, this cannot be far away.
