- Beelink Mate adds ports and storage without modifying the imprint of your Mac Mini
- Choose between a higher speed or a storage capacity option of 16 to maximum
- Silent fans cooling and a selection of full ports are offered in an elegant metal design
Beelink Mate Mini mooring station offers Mac Mini M4 users an elegant way to extend both connectivity and storage.
Designed to match the Apple Compact office, it is fixed under the Mac Mini, maintaining a tidy imprint while adding additional features.
Basically, the Mate Mini supports Thunderbolt 5 with data transfer speeds of 80 Gbit / s, allowing fast external SSD performance and transparent device connectivity.
Choice of models
There are two models offered. Model A has double PCIe X2 M.2 locations and supports up to 16 TB of storage. The B model offers a single PCIe X4 location which offers higher speeds, up to 6228 MB / s of reading, but with less capacity.
This compromise highlights the main drawback of the quay. To reach the full 16 TB, you need the version that uses PCIe X2, which is slightly less effective than the X4 configuration. For most users, it is unlikely that it creates real problems.
That said, professionals working with massive files or the need for the fastest transfer speeds could feel the pinch.
Aside from storage, the Mate Mini offers a full range of ports. This is in particular an Ethernet port of 2.5 Gbit / s, USB-A 3.0 ports, an SD 4.0 card reader and an audio plug of 3.5 mm.
A PD-type PD port also allows power delivery for devices that exceed the 15W integrated output of Mac Mini. Two Thunderbolt 5 cables are included in the box.
A calm fan and 360 ° cooling vents help keep the system fresh and stable, even during intensive use. The entirely in aluminum design is finished in silver to match the Mac Mini and weighs only 250 g.
At the price of $ 279 (against $ 339), the Mate Mini targets users who seek to extend the capacities of their Mac Mini without taking up an additional space. It may not be perfect, but it fulfills a useful role for those looking for additional ports and storage.
