Microsoft announced a vision of Xbox on the PC Gaming Handheld Gaming of Asus Rog: meet the Rog Xbox ally.
Presented at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, this version of the ROG ally is available in two variants. While the two machines have a 7 -inch 1080p screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a White Xbox Ally version targets 720p games, a bit like the Valve steam game, and a Black Xbox Ally X console targets 900p games at 1080p.
These two consoles-Met-PCS uses AMD Ryzen chipsets; The most powerful black machine with the Ryzen Ai Z2 extreme chip, while the Xbox ally uses the Ryzen Ryzen Z2 A. The latter is delivered with 16 GB of SSD LPDDR5X-6400 and 512 GB storage of M.2 22 2280 SSD, while the Xbox Ally X is delivered with 24 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM and a 1 tb ssd.
Unlike Rog Ally and Rog Ally X of Asus, the Xbox version has a modified design with profiled handles that echo the shape of the current Xbox wireless controller. And as you might expect, the two Xbox allies sport the arrangement of the Xbox “Abxy” button and a dedicated Xbox Home button.
Like the Xbox wireless controller, the Xbox allies have hall pulse triggers, which should feel familiar to Xbox Series and SERIES S series and give portable machines some of the best analog game triggers (at least in my humble opinion).

In terms of ports, the Xbox ally has two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports that support DisplayPort 2.1 and Power Delivery 3.0, and uses a UHS-II microSD card reader for storage extension.
The Xbox Ally X has one of the USB-C ports above, but also has a USB4 type-C port with DisplayPort 2.1, Power Delivery 3.0 and Thunderbolt 4 support. It also comes with a microSD card reader.
The two pocket computers have a 3.5 mm helmet socket and offer 6th Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
Windows 11 meets Xbox customization
While the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X are attracted by attention, current manual PCS cropping already has Xbox game support via Windows 11 and Xbox Cloud Gaming. But the experience has not always been smooth, with a solid argument that windows can retain portable games, especially compared to the Steam bridge.
But Microsoft worked to optimize Windows to operate particularly well on Xbox allies, with the start of the operating system in a new complete Xbox experience, which attracts Xbox games, as well as those of other PC playing platforms / platforms such as Steam and the Epic Games store.
Adjustments to the Xbox application and the game bar were designed to help them be more user -friendly, and the latter to integrate the ASUS armor case.
All this should facilitate access to Xbox games, other PC games, in cloud streaming and in applications such as discord of an easy interface.
If the Xbox allies can offer solid pocket performance, we could consider an impressive alternative, or in some cases an additional console, at the steam bridge.

But a portable Xbox to this ally is definitely worthy of stealing a brief attention from switch 2.
Currently, we have no details on the release date or the price of Rog Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, but expect the latter to be in line with the current allies.
