Washington: A small plane carrying 20 people crashed into Tennessee on Sunday.
Some of those on board were injured and taken to the hospital. The plane was used for parachuting and went down shortly after taking off from Tullahoma regional airport.
Authorities are still investigating what caused the accident.
Tennessee Highway Patrol said on X that his soldiers helped the police “at the scene of an airplane accident on Old Shelbyville Road” in the County Central Coffee.
“Some have been transported by plane to neighboring hospitals. It is an active scene,” he said, adding that more updates would follow.
Images on social networks have shown a small white plan with the nose buried in the grass and its broken tail behind.
The Federal Aviation Administration said that the plane was an Otter from Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, and that it “crashed shortly after leaving Tullahoma regional airport in Tennessee around 12:45 pm (1745 GMT) on Sunday.”
