Apple has just revealed MacOS Tahoe 26 at WWDC 2025 and in addition to withdrawing the envelopes from the next incarnation of its office bone – known as Tahoe – The Company gave us the SCOOP on material compatibility.
In other words, we now know which Mac will be good to execute MacOS Tahoe and which Apple laptops and computers will be left out in the cold, wedged on the current version which is MacOS Sequioa.
And as you can expect, the continuation of the set trend last year, more Apple Mac with Intel processors will be prohibited from the entrance with MacOS Tahoe.
So what Mac will be compatible with MacOS 26? Here is the complete list of the different models of Apple’s computers:
- MacBook Air M1 or subsequent version
- MacBook Pro 16 inch 2019 or subsequent version
- MacBook Pro 2020 or subsequent version
- MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 with four Thunderbolt 3 ports
- IMAC 2020 or later
- Mac Mini 2020 or subsequent version
- Mac Pro 2019 or later
- Mac Studio 2022 and later
More recent material that is unlucky
As you can do, this leaves relatively new languid material in the country of MacOS 15, never being able to jump to MacOS 26.
More specifically, this includes a 20020 laptop – the MacBook Air with an Intel CPU, because only the MacBook Air with M1 this year is supported by MacOS Tahoe.
Although it is the worst offender in terms of prematurely support for the support coil, those who have a MacBook Pro from 2018 are also left in the LURCH, just like the owners of Mac Mini 2018 elsewhere.
All these machines are still quite recent – you could say that the 2017 iMac Pro is also – and none of them will be able to go to MacOS 26. Boo, whistling and so on…
This does not mean that these Macs are suddenly made unusable, however. Even if Tahoe is not an option for them, Apple will continue to provide security updates for MacOS 15 Sequoia in the future. So, there will remain an operating system perfectly good as it happens (which should be a few years of updates, generally).
You just don’t get the new features that MacOS 26 offers (and you can find out more about them here).
If your Mac is compatible and you want to try MacOS Tahoe 26 now, we show you how to download the beta of the MacOS 26 developer.
