Sales of Nintendo Switch 2 experienced a very strong start, the console beating records in less than a week after its launch of June 5.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has sold more than 3.5 million units worldwide in just four days, making the most sold Nintendo console of all time. As the biggest launch of Nintendo, it is currently going beyond previous success sales such as Wii and Nintendo DS.
To put this figure in context, the original nintendo switch, which was a very popular console by any measure, sold 2.74 million units during its launch month.
As Mat Piscatella, Executive Director of Video Games of the Market Studies Circana, points out, sales of any console during its first week are largely due to the amount of supply available.
We already know that Nintendo has been preparing for the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 for some time, having many more Nintendo Switch 2 units ready for launch than its predecessor.
The decisive factor in the success of the console will be whether it maintains this trajectory. As the market office DFC Intelligence predicts that the Nintendo Switch 2 could move 100 million units by the end of 2029, it seems likely.
