The NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke of the possibility of a regular 18 game season before the Super Bowl Lix in February.
Goodell said there was “a lot of work to do” before extending the season to 18 games and said he had no official discussion with the players’ union to add a match.
The receiver of the New York Giants, Darius Slayton, thought that the NFL adding a 17th game in the regular season before 2021 was “crazy” and said that he could not even wrap the head of an 18th potential match.

The 28 -year -old wide receiver said he would like three things in the next CBA in exchange for the potential addition of an 18th regular season game.
The first thing Slayton would like is a change in the proven performance escalator of the NFL.
The proven performance escalator increases the salary of the choices of seventh round in third row if they reach certain playing time thresholds. Players can win this salary bump by the escalator if they play at least 35% of offensive or defensive shots during their first three seasons.
They can also earn the increase in salary if on average they on average at least 35% playing time during their first three seasons. The pay bump comes into force before the fourth season of the player.
However, these salary increases are not guaranteed for players and managing directors can play hardball and take them, this is what happened to Slayton.

“(The) situation in which I was where they can retract (the escalator). The escalator is there for the guys who enter the disadvantaged league to have a chance to earn a little money, so why – it makes no sense that it is not (guaranteed). It is not logical that it can be removed as I win.”
“Do not put it there then, if it is as if you can win it (and then), take it, why put it there? So, these must be guaranteed.”
Slayton had won the escalator because it was a choice of fifth round which responded to qualifications for the increase in wages. However, the director general of the Giants, Joe Schoen, made Slayton have taken a salary reduction to stay with the team and essentially wiped out his escalator.
The next change that Slayton would like to see in ABC is a change in the share of income if the NFL had to add an 18th match.
“If we could simply get another 1% or 1.5% to do it, you know 49 and a half.
The last thing Slayton said he would like to be a more important investment on the part of the NFL teams in their training staff to host the additional game.

“The investment of each team in training staff and body maintenance like this could certainly be higher in all areas. As far as everything is concerned, you also need access to keep your body correct or make your body properly as there could be more money to manage this,” said Slayton.
“I am in a team that probably makes one of the best jobs in the league. But I just know that a fact as just listening to guys through the league as it could certainly be higher. If you wanted people to hold, it’s a department where you could pay more money and at least help guys.”
Slayton notably said that he did not think that the NFL should add a second week of leave to the schedule.
“I do not know against two (goodbye) because as you advance a purchase is a difficult thing,” said Slayton.
NFL data shows that there are more soft tissue injuries after a week by Bye, according to Ari Meirov.
Slayton said that it was up to the player’s union to fight for these changes.
“It will be on us as a union of players and in the AP to fight for the things we would need in return if we had to add an 18th match, but this is certainly not the case, this is certainly not ideal for the players,” said Slayton.

The Giants selected Slayton with their choice of fifth round during the 2019 NFL recovery in Auburn.
In six seasons with the Giants, Slayton has 259 catches with 3,897 yards and 21 affected. Last season, Slayton achieved 39 catches for 573 yards and two affected.
Slayton was a free agent during the offseason, but stayed with the Giants with a $ 36 million contract over three years.
