Foreign Office (FO) rejected the recent remarks made by Jaishankar from India to Brussels, describing them as “irresponsible” and advising India to refrain from turning misleading stories. The statement comes after Jaishankar launched another verbal attack on Pakistan, the appellant “Terroristan”.
Speaking Tuesday at a joint press conference in Brussels alongside the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, Jaishankar said: “I would like you to understand that this is not a conflict between two states in itself.”
“It is actually an answer to the threat and the practice of terrorism. So I urge you to do it. Do not think so like India or Pakistan; think about it like India-Terroristan. You will appreciate it,” he added.
In a statement published on Wednesday, FO condemned the rhetoric of the Indian Minister and stressed that the speech of the best diplomats should promote peace and harmony, rather than producing “bellicose punchlines”.
“The tone and tenor of a foreign minister should be proportional to his worthy status,” said the spokesman, stressing the importance of maintaining diplomatic decorum in international relations.

The spokesperson also underlined the current campaign in India to mislead the international community with a narrative made of victimization.
“The anti-Pakistani diatribe of India cannot hide its sponsorship of terrorism beyond its borders or its oppression sanctioned by the State in Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk), it was occupied illegally.
FO also called India for trying to divert attention from its own involvement in terrorism, subversion and targeted assassinations, urging the Indian government to reflect on its actions rather than pointing the others.
He underlined the obvious frustration in the account of India, in particular after its failed military operations against Pakistan last month. “The emerging story of India betrays pure frustration, following a unsuccessful military adventure against Pakistan,” the statement said.

The FO reiterated its commitment to peaceful coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy, but underlined its firm determination to defend its sovereignty.
“Pakistan is resolved in its intention and its ability to safeguard its sovereignty against any aggression,” he added, pointing to the solid response of Pakistan to the recent strikes of India.
The declaration ended by suggesting that Indian leaders improve the quality of their diplomatic discourse. “History will not judge by whom has shouted the strongest, but by whom the wisest,” he said.
