Journalists briefly boycotted the post-budget press conference of the Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday after the FEDERAL BOARD OF RESTRA (FBR) rupture)
With a tradition of several decades by failing to provide a technical briefing on the financial bill.
The boycott forced a delay in the press conference while the officials of the Ministry of Finance tried to convince journalists to return – without success. The Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, finally intervened and managed to resolve the dead end, allowing the briefing to continue.
Journalists protested the absence of the customary technical session, saying that such briefings have been provided in a coherent manner for over 20 years.
This year’s omission was considered a serious violation of transparency.
Later, the Minister of Finance sent the officials concerned to persuade the journalists, but in vain. When the case has become serious, Tarar reached the “P” block, where the press conference was held and resolved the question.
