Cobi Jones, the leader of all USMNT times, thinks that the United States can do great things in the World Cup.

Jones, 54, said that the past can serve as an indicator of what this iteration from the United States can do during the World Cup.

“They can go to the end. And I know that people laughed, but when you take a look at what we did in 2002, you know that no one expected what we were going so far,” Jones at PK Press Club Digital told.

In 2002, the United States advanced as a heavy outsider in a quarter-final match, its best modern finish in a World Cup.

“The way I look at him, anyone, any team can do something in this World Cup. This is what is so great about it.”

Jones said the team was to meet next year before the World Cup.

“Well, for me, I think the greatest thing is to meet in a team. I am not too worried at the moment. It’s a year,” said Jones.

“There is a lot of time to bring the necessary changes that the coach Pochettino thinks he is important for this team to succeed. This is why he is paid for the big dollars, you know. So, I expect to see changes and see what he wants to advance among the players.”

In addition to being enthusiastic about what will happen in the field, Jones said that he also awaits events out of the field.

“I am also enthusiastic about everything that is going on off the field. The events that will be there … All the different parts you know who will perform,” said Jones.

“People, you know, come together in bars, restaurants, outdoor stadiums, everywhere. It’s just a gathering of people. So, for me, it’s a moment when we will see different cultures come together. This is what I am excited.”

Jones played for the USMNT from 1992 to 2004, and the midfielder scored 15 goals involved.
