A man from Oklahoma who promised his loyalty to the Islamic State wanted to lead a terrorist attack on the Oklahoma Sooners football stadium in 2023, according to the judicial archives.
Landon Kyle Swinford said that he and a source who turned out to be an infiltrated officer had noticed faults in the stadium security situation and began to spot the place, according to the documents.
Swinford “had examined barricades and security and thought that the stadium could be a potential target for an attack,” said files.

Swinford and the infiltration officer were in communication from May 2023 until October, and Swinford told the infiltrated officer that he intended to go to Tunisia to fight for the Islamic State.
Swinford said he would have “unfortunately” attacking the attack if he had been able to afford it.
Swinford also had the point of attacking New Orleans, which was the site of a terrorist attack on New Year’s day. Swinford wanted to lead an attack during fat Tuesday at the Voodoo temple.

Swinford pleaded guilty to accusations of possession of juvenile pornography and transmission of a threat to interstate trade. He awaits the conviction for these accusations.
The Sooners have played Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium since 1923, and the place was renovated before the 2019 season.

The stadium can accommodate 80,126, but its greatest attendance reached more than 88,000 in 2017.
