- iPados 26 brings the application of the newspaper to iPad
- Journal, previously an exclusive iPhone, offers users a dedicated place for memories and notes
- The iPad version adds Apple Crayer support, as well as a card to add places to the entries
Apple brings the newspaper application to iPad with iPados 26 after two years of iPhone exclusivity.
The Journal application, which is already preinstalled on all the best iPhones, will become one of the default applications of the iPad with the next version of iPados 26.
Journal for iPad follows almost the same format as its iPhone counterpart – it is a place to store memories, note notes, add photos and, on iPad specifically, write and sketch with Apple Crayer.
The official Apple press release describing the new features in iPados 26 notes that the application allows users to create several journals “for different aspects of life”.
The application also contains a card section, presumably to find and pin locations at newspaper entrances.
As the press release notes, the newspaper application allows users to incorporate “photos, videos, audio recordings, places, their state of mind, and more” in each entry.
Apple has not confirmed this, but taking into account the history of the company, we expect the newspaper entries to synchronize between iPhone and iPad on iCloud – although we do not know how Apple Crayer’s functions translate between the two platforms.
A perfect adjustment
If you ask me, a version of the newspaper application for iPad is late. It is a reflective application that brings together various aspects of the day and life, and the large portable canvas that the iPad provides is a natural matching.
Make a rapid scrolling through the technical sides of YouTube and you will find dozens of videos demonstrating iPad configurations that focus on taking notes, minimalism and mindfulness.
The newspaper application offers users a little software officially supported without additional costs to start or integrate into their use of the iPad.
Personally, I can be returned to my iPad Pro 2020 for the newspaper application – I recently wrote that my 11 -inch model was mainly relegated to the role of the Youtube machine, but it would be a perfect device to continue my trips as a newspaper.
And with the newspaper application apparently a notebook and a specialized file browser, I suggest that it will not take too much processing power, which means that it could be an excellent addition to the even older or less powerful iPad models.
We do not yet have a full list of devices supported by iPados 26, but we expect the newspaper application to reach all the best iPads. Let us know if you use the new newspaper application in the comments below.
