- Zinwa Q25 revives Blackberry Classic with modern hardware and software
- The original screen and keyboard remain in this updated Android phone 2025
- Q20 conversion kit and complete Q25 combined which should be shipped in August
Chinese company Zinwa Technologies is preparing to bring the Blackberry Classic (also known as Q20) with interns updated under the name of Zinwa Q25 (because we are in 2025).
The phone will include new equipment while maintaining many original emblematic components, including the 720×720 touch screen, the physical keyboard, the LED notification light and the external shell.
This project aims to mix the nostalgic shape factor in blackberries with modern smartphone capabilities.
Improved internal
Fortunately, inside, Zinwa replaces the original interns with a Mediatek Helio G99 chipset, 12 GB of RAM LPDDR4X and 256 GB of UFS 2.X. The battery also obtains an upgrade at 3,000 mAh, and the camera system includes a 50 MP rear sensor and an 8 MP front camera.
The Q25 will run Android 13 out of the box, but it is not planned to go to Android 14 or later. That said, Zinwa plans to provide regular updates to approach bugs and add minor features.
The company will send the Q25 with NFC, USB-C, headphones, management of the microSD card and a single SIM location. The modem of the new motherboard supports all the overall 4G LTE bands, which makes the phone compatible with most networks in the world.
In an interview with the YouTube channel Retro return (that you can look at below), Zinwa said that the updated trackpad will work as the original, acting both as a cursor and a directional cushion, according to the selected mode.
The Zinwa Q25 will be available fully assembled for $ 400 or as a $ 300 conversion kit for users who already have a classic BlackBerry and prefer to reorganize it themselves.
The kit and the finished device should be sent in early August 2025.
Zinwa also confirmed that he was working on similar refreshments of the Blackberry Keyone and the Passport, with future models possibly appointed K25 and P26 respectively.
