- Android 16 causes problems for certain pixel devices
- Navigation pimples and gestures are freezing
- Google has not yet officially said anything about the bugs
Android 16 was officially pushed to pixel owners last week, but the reports arrive in the software update causing fairly large bugs on certain handsets, linked to gestures and interface and navigation.
As indicated by Android titles, the reports indicate that certain navigation and gestures buttons do not react as they should – which means that certain operations (like returning to the previous screen) take seconds to finish or do not occur at all.
It is not difficult to find users with problems: on Reddit, we have articles on non -reactive buttons on a Google Pixel 8, sliding without doing anything on a Pixel 9 Pro XL, and several gestures not operating on a Pixel 6.
On X (formerly Twitter), Artem Russakovskii from the Android police says that the back gesture only works intermittently from the update to Android 16 – and that there is a screen recording included so that you can see what is going on (or rather, does not happen).
Problems for some
Here is a demo of the return button not to work on Android 16. I took a bug report and I submitted it to Google Engineering with this reproductive screen. I hope they understand it. pic.twitter.com/nemifqqrvbJune 14, 2025
Although there are many reports of online problems, these problems clearly do not affect everyone: since the upgrade to Android 16 on my Google Pixel 9 phone, I have not noticed any problem using navigation gestures.
For the moment, Google has not officially said anything about these problems. If you are assigned, you can report the bug to Google. With so many users who complain now, this will undoubtedly be addressed as soon as possible.
What makes these bugs particularly boring is that they relate to a fundamental part of the user experience and affect several applications and screens. Being able to get around your phone is a fairly fundamental element to use it.
Android 16 provides a certain number of useful upgrades, including a new Pixel Vips feature for your favorite contacts, but we are still waiting for the arrival of the Big Material 3 – which should be later this year.
