Minneapolis: The Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, said that a 57 -year -old suspect was arrested on Sunday in the murder of a legislator from the Democratic State and her husband while he pretended to be a police officer.
The arrest was the culmination of a huge man’s hunting after Melissa Hortman’s ball death, the best Democrat in the Minnesota House, and her husband, Mark, the day before, that Walz called “politically motivated assassination”.
The authorities said that the suspect arrested, Vance Luther Boelter, would also have pulled and injured another Democratic legislator, the state senator John Hoffman, and his wife, Yvette, at their home a few kilometers away.
Walz said Hoffman, hit by nine bullets, was heading for recovery after emerging from his last operation.
Boelter has links to evangelical ministries and claimed to be a security expert with experience in the Gaza Strip and Africa, according to online publications and public archives examined by Reuters.
Boelter was accused of two second degree murder leaders and two second -degree murder attempts, said a criminal complaint from Hennepin County.
Three of these accusations are liable to prison terms of up to 40 years, according to the complaint not sealed on Sunday.
When the police searched the Boelter SUV after the shots, they discovered three AK-47 assault rifles, a 9 mm handgun and a list of other officials, including their addresses, said the complaint.
The murder was the last episode of high -level American political violence.
Such incidents ranged from an attack in 2022 against the husband of the former American Democrating speaker Nancy Pelosi, at their home, to an assassination offer on Donald Trump last year, and a criminal fire attack in the room of the Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, in April.
