Rawalpindi:
Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has decided to remove the collection of electricity bill payments through Pakistan Post from July 1.
In a letter sent to the headquarters of Pakistan Post, the company said that this decision aims to digitize the manual collection system and prevent losses in cash collections.
Pakistan Post Sources has expressed its surprise at this brutal unilateral decision, while confirming that post offices continue to provide electricity, gas, telephone and ASA invoice collections despite significant financial losses.
They said that his continuation was for the convenience of the public and to maintain the dignity of the national institution. Public confidence in post offices, especially in rural areas, is obvious from statistics showing that during the last year, more than 42.8 million electricity business invoices were collected in post offices, including 10 million invoices for IESCO. Similar figures also emerge for the current exercise.
It has been learned that if IESCO and all other electricity companies and public service providers already have alternatives of proposed installations, the majority of the public is still based on the Pakistani post.
