LONDON:
The president and former Prime Minister of PML-N Nawaz Sharif condemned the ongoing actions of Israel against Iran, shifting them with acts of oppression and excess “and reaffirmed the solidarity of Pakistan with the Iranian people.
In a brief interaction with journalists outside the Avenfield residence in London, Nawaz Sharif said that Israel is currently committing “oppression and injustice”.
“We were with Iran and we will continue to stand with Iran.”
The declaration of the former Prime Minister occurred in the midst of an increase in regional tensions after Israeli strikes within Iranian territory, causing a general conviction through the Muslim world.
Pakistan, in official declarations, firmly supported Iran law to self -defense and denounced the military aggression of Israel, describing it as a violation of international law.
Commenting on Pakistan’s defense posture, Nawaz Sharif said that being a nuclear power was a blessing for the country, but added that the intention behind the acquisition of nuclear capacity was to promote peace, not war.
“Pakistan being a nuclear country is a matter of good fortune,” he said. “We have become a nuclear power not to wage war, but to establish peace.”
He called for global efforts to stability and coexistence.
“There should be world peace,” said the former Prime Minister. “Israel has wronged Iran. What’s going on is oppression. Just attack someone like that and burn them … It is not acceptable. In what kind of society does it happen?”
He said Pakistan had remained aligned with Iran against Israeli atrocities.
“Pakistan stood with Iran against Israeli atrocities and will continue to support it,” he added.
Triple Prime Minister’s comments come while Pakistan condemned Israeli actions, rejecting the military action of Tel Aviv who entered his fifth day, while advocating restraint, dialogue and membership of international standards.
