A major fire that broke out early Wednesday at Millennium Mall on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi was under control after more than four hours, officials announced.

The fire started on the roof of the building and spread to the fourth and third floors, which house the clothing stores, according to the chief of the firefighters Humayun Khan. He said that the operation was faced with delays due to a water shortage.

In total, eleven fire trucks and two snorkels were involved in fire fighting efforts. Flames have also been reported on the second and first floors, but with less intensity.

Rescue officials confirmed that the roof and third floor had suffered significant damage, affecting stores and offices.

Residents of a neighboring residential building were safely evacuated and no injury has been reported. The residential complex has remained unscathed, officials added.

The fire was fully contained after about four and a half hours.
