US President Donald Trump is expected to welcome the military staff chief (COAS), Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for lunch at the White House today.

The meeting, registered at the official schedule of the president, will take place in the cabinet room at 10 p.m., the standard time in Pakistan (PST) and is closed to the press, according to the public program of the American president.

The visit also follows the air skirmish last month between India and Pakistan, which raised regional tensions. Field Marshall Munnir is on an official five-day trip to the United States.

Recently promoted to five -star rank – the first altitude of Pakistan since 1959 – Coas made the headlines during his tour.

In a speech to the American Pakistani community in Washington, he urged India to abandon regional domination and called for commitment “as civilized nation”.

He rejected Indian allegations connecting Pakistan to the attack on Pahalgam, calling them a pretext for cross -border strikes. “We would prefer to kiss the martyrdom to accept this dishonor,” he said.

The event, which was held at the Four Seasons hotel in Georgetown, attracted strong support from the diaspora. The participants welcomed the marshal with pink petals and slogans, while the demonstrators aligned by Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) called outside for democratic reforms and the release of imprisoned leaders.

The field marshal also expressed the support of Pakistan to Iran in his war with Israel, while approving American efforts to defuse the conflict. “We want this war to end immediately,” he said.

Meanwhile, General Michael Kurilla, head of the American central command, had previously described Pakistan as a “phenomenal partner” in the fight against Daesh-Khorasan (Daesh-K).

Kurilla has told legislators that Pakistani forces, helped by American intelligence, had killed dozens of Daesh-K terrorists and captured several senior agents, including Mohammad Sharifullah, a planner of the bombing of Kabul 2021 airport, which killed 13 American troops.

Kurilla said that Mnnir had called him personally after the arrest, declaring: “I caught him – ready to extradite him in the United States.” Sharifullah was then given to the American authorities.

In Congress remarks, Kurilla welcomed Pakistan’s operations along the Afghan border and said the country continued to play a central role in the fight against regional terrorism.

Despite more than 1,000 terrorist incidents last year, Kurilla said that Pakistan “was a phenomenal partner in the world of the fight against terrorism”.

Coas, during his speech to the diaspora, also praised the Pakistanis abroad for their economic contributions and rejected concerns about brain flight.
