Islamabad:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested a legal opinion from the Pakistan Prosecutor General’s Office (AGP) concerning the Pakistan aid government before the American court for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
The judge of the High Court of Islamabad (IHC), Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan, heard the case concerning the release and repatriation of Dr. Siddiqui, currently imprisoned in the United States. Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui’s lawyer, Imran Shafiq, and former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appeared in court.
The Tribunal was informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had requested legal opinion from the Office of the Attorney General concerning the Pakistan government on legal aid at the United States court concerning the Liberation of Dr Siddiqui.
The prosecutor’s office asked the court for the granting of 10 days to submit the government’s response to the court. The court accepted the request of the Attorney General and granted a week, and adjourned the hearing until June 25.
