Another victim of the massive cyber attack of Typhon Salt which targeted the American telecommunications giants was identified as Viasat.
Bloomberg News Reports The Society noted a violation of its systems earlier in 2025 linked to broader attacks against American communication infrastructure, because the Satellite Communication Company worked with the government of the country.
ViaSat has many contracts and partnerships in the maritime industries, aviation and networking, as well as several contracts with the US Department of Defense and the American Space Force.
Satellite comms targeted by the salt typhoon
The attack in 2024 saw the group of Selphon of Sel linked to Chinese people hacking many networks belonging to telecommunications companies such as Verizon, AT&T and Lumen, which probably gave hackers and record calls and messages. The group would also have violated a stolen door system used by the American authorities to carry out telephone -ordered telephone.
In addition, the Salt Typhoon group also struck the presidential campaigns of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in the perspective of the American presidential election of 2024.
China has often denied having links with the hacking group, even going so far as to accuse the CIA of being behind attacks by another group linked to China, Volt Typhoon.
Following the ViaSat surveys on the violation which occurred via unauthorized access via a compromise device, the company said that it had found no customer impact after the attack.
“Viasat believes that the incident has been corrected and has not detected any recent activity linked to this event,” said the company.
The complete impact of the Typhon Salt attack may never be known as huge reductions in government services and advisory advice was carried out immediately after President Trump’s return to the White House.
The main survey exerted by the Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB) was canceled after the Advisory Council was abolished to “eliminate improper use of resources”, according to the former interim assistant secretary of the Department of Internal Security, Benjamin C. Huffman.
